Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Jesus, I have no idea where I am going.

Sometimes I cannot see the road ahead of me.

I don’t feel certain I won’t be alone and lost and misunderstood.

This can be a scary place for me, Lord.

An anxious place, where my mind spins and ruminates on protection, defense, and shame.

But you are a tender and loving incarnate God.

My daughter reminded me of this when I was diagnosed with cancer last year.

She said, “In this world, there will be trouble.  But take heart, Jesus has overcome the world.”

These words bring tears to my eyes and comfort to my soul.

Like a flashlight at night, your Word keeps me from tripping and stumbling through life’s trials.

I may only be able to see just a bit further down the path, but you know the way and will never leave me or forsake me.

You are Immanuel, “God with us.”

Oh come, oh come Immanuel.

Help me and all your creation trust your promises and follow your light.
